Hand Carved Ahote Hopi Kachina Doll

This is an impressive display of Hopi craftsmanship. This traditional, Hopi Indian style Ahote Kachina Doll has been captured in a traditional pose. This incredible Kachina Doll was made the old fashioned way, hand carved out of genuine cottonwood root. It was masterfully hand painted with American Indian designs and feature the traditional Ahote headdress. The case mask has the appropriate traditional Pueblo look. This great Ahote Kachina Doll measures 6-1/2" tall (including the wooden base) and 3 1/2" wide at the base. Just like all of Milton Howard Kachinas this Ahote Kachina is made with grace and care.

Ahote is a hunter Kachina with a long flowing headdress, Milton Howard is renown for his intricate detail and colorful hues.

The detail is exceptional for such small wood carvings. From the fine lines of the feather work, the beaded look in the jewelry to the carving of his knuckles. The time and effort and talent is evident with every stroke of this carver. Carving them small like this requires extra precision and provides little room for the fingers and tools. One slip and an arm or feather could be easily broken off during carving. The time, effort and talent is evident with every stroke of this carver. Real feathers and fur accent this doll along with yarn and bells. This unusual piggybacked Hopi Mudheads Doll was made by Tony Espinosa, Hopi taught, master carver from Holbrook, Arizona. This exceptional sculpture is unsurpassed in Tony's attention to detail. From the fringe accents on the boots to the small silver toned conchos on the belts, these wood sculptures don't miss a trick! The time, patience and talent is evident with every stroke of Tony's hand. Earthy terracotta paint dominates these sculptures & with the addition of Turquoise blue rattles & red/green banded skirts, these Mudheads flicker with color. Hopi Mudheads lead foot racers into the village and challenge villagers in contests to prove their strength. During rests in a dance, Mudheads may engage in games with the boys and girls in the audience. As in this hand carved & hand painted sculpture, he is giving a lift to a child Mudhead to cross the finish line. Both dolls are adorned with colorful neck ruffs accented with yarn & feather detailing. The smaller Mudhead is removable! These Hopi dolls are an accurate depiction of colors, body proportions & accessories. These outstanding Mudhead Dolls measure about 18-1/2" tall and about 9-3/4" wide for the adult & the child stands at 5-1/2" by 6" wide. They stand on an almost oval shaped wood base that is stamped underneath with the artists' information.

This delightful Hopi Koshari Clown Doll was made by Tony Espinosa, Hopi taught, master carver from Holbrook, Arizona. This engaging Koshari or Koyala Doll is unsurpassed in Tony's attention to detail. From the fringe accents on the right boot to the small silver toned medallion on his wrist, this wood sculpture doesn't miss a thing! Using the natural grain & color of the customary basswood, along with paint, Tony has painted the Clown in the traditional colors of black & white. The sculpture includes finely, detailed ears of corn in the left hand & a Turquoise Blue rattle in the right hand. This hand carved & hand painted feather is a perfect complement to any Milton Howard Kachina Dolls you may already own. This is a physical expression of Milton's trademark feather. You will always see this hallmark on the bottom of his wood sculptures. This sculpture was skillfully hand crafted out of cottonwood root with the same expertise that Milton uses on his highly collectible Kachina Dolls....you'll think you're looking at a real feather. The detailed feather portion is painted & stained in somber hues of browns and blacks and with its long and delicate lines, burned individually by Milton, combines to present a visually beautiful & realistic rendering. At the bottom of the feather, also known as the calamus or quill, Milton adds some traditional decorations that continue the Native American sense of beauty & harmony. Each feather is unique in its decorations & is completed with a wood carved "buckskin" fringe that curves upward. The time, patience and talent is apparent with every stroke of this master carver's hand. This Hopi Kachina Doll was created by Milton Howard, master Native American wood carver. This Kachina doll, which represents the humpbacked flute player, is exceptional in Milton's attention to detail. From the fine lines of the feather work to the carving of his feathered headdress & flute, this wood sculpture doesn't miss a thing! Milton uses stain to bring out the natural grain of the cottonwood root, along with paint to enhance and deepen the dimensional layers of detail. The sculpture includes detailed leggings & a Sunface on the back medallion. Caught in mid-step, he dances for fertility, rain & prosperity atop a half-globe of a dusky sky over his pueblo village. This outstanding Kachina Doll, measures about 10" tall and about 4" wide. The underbase is signed Kokopelli, M Howard and features his hallmark of a wood burned feather.

Bold, vibrant colors dominate this sculpture & with the addition of Turquoise Blue suede accents, this sculpture is alive with color. The white, distressed painted dancer is quite an eyeful, with an generous covering of feathers atop his head accented with a Genuine Turquoise nugget. True to life details add artistic merit to the completed doll. This exceptional sculpture was created completely by hand. This traditional, Kachina Doll measures about 12" tall (including the wooden base) and about 7-1/2" wide. Signed by the Navajo artisan, Wanda Yazzie. Collectible Set of Three Mickey and Minnie Mouse Disney Store Greeters

These fall wooden Disney store greeters are captivating! Hand carved, hand painted and stained, these Walt Disney statues are a delight to the eyes! Although the artist is unknown, we do know that this set of three store greeters were created by hand, to welcome you to a Disney store in Disneyland. The largest greeter is Mickey, himself! He stands over 5' tall on a 33" round base, with his hand poised to glad hand everyone he meets. All wood, he is very, very heavy. The two smaller greeters are Minnie, standing at 18" tall on a 7-1/4" base & Mickey, as the Sorcerers Apprentice, at 24" tall on a 9" round base. All the statues are vibrantly painted and stained and have aged beautifully. Slight damage on thumb of 5' Mickey...looks like a dog used it as a chew toy. Slight crack is apparent in the 24" Mickey between his hands, otherwise condition is very, very good! Kids of all ages will love this highly collectible, one-of-a-kind set. Richard not included!
